GOP Senate Candidate Grilled Over His Ties To Arrested Blogger In Brutal Interview

Mississippi state Sen. Chris McDaniel (R) faced a barrage of questions on Tuesday over his association with conservative political blogger Clayton Kelly, who was arrested last week for allegedly breaking into the nursing home where the wife of Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) resides.

McDaniel, who is running to unseat Cochran in the state's GOP primary, maintains he was unaware of the details of the alleged break-in prior to reports in the press. But his campaign manager, state Sen. Melanie Sojourner, saw Kelly's blog post about the incident late Friday night, raising questions that McDaniel's team was somehow involved, according to the Clarion-Ledger.

"It's really simple. There's nothing here. It's just a fiction you guys are creating," a visibly agitated McDaniel said on The Gallo Radio Show.

But host Paul Gallo wasn't satisfied with McDaniel's timeline of events.

"You can't absolutely positively tell me it's not somebody from your staff and you just don't know it," he responded.
