There's An Art To Photographing Gay Weddings And These Photogs Nailed It

For many years, wedding photographers were accustomed only to working with heterosexual couples -- the bride traditionally in a white dress and the groom in a black tux.

But as more and more states legalize same-sex marriage, wedding photographers' clientele has changed considerably. That's where Kathryn Hamm -- the president of GayWeddings.com -- and photographer Thea Dodds come in. In their new book, The New Art of Capturing Love, Hamm and Dodds instruct and inspire today's wedding photographers on how to better serve the LGBTQ community.

"These are exciting times for marriage equality -- but capturing portraits in this new market requires a new approach to posing, which until now, has been almost exclusively oriented toward pairing a larger man in black with a smaller woman in white," they write in a press release for the book. "What works for Jack and Jill won't necessarily work for Jack and Michael, let alone Jill and Louise."
