Congratulations go to the LA LGBT Center this week for announcing a revolutionary new campus that will address both of those problems with 100 new beds for homeless youth and 100 units for low-income seniors and young adults. The American Journal of Nursing has published a review of best practices for LGBT in healthcare settings which included overviews of gaps in LGBT-centered health curriculum, health disparities, and ways to promote health with LGBT individuals, and a list of top health issues for LGBT folks to discuss with their providers.

How Physically Fit are Trans College Students?

In a first-of-a-kind study, transgender college students were found to not meet recommended levels of regular physical activity, and were more likely to be underweight or obese, when compared to cisgendered students.

Josh thinks no doctor has an excuse to provide substandard care for trans people and he’s got evidence he can train them in as little as an hour. May was Mental Health Awareness Month. Studies have found that LGBT individuals are at an increased risk for mental health problems. This new article reviews the many positive developments in LGBT mental health advocacy since homosexuality was removed from the DSM in 1973, such as the Trevor Project and the It Gets Better Project.
