Dad Tricks The Internet Into Thinking He Named His Babies After The Wu-Tang Clan

Baby naming gets complicated. After flipping through the name book so many times, some parents may turn to their hobbies and interests for inspiration -- or their favorite rappers.

That's what the Liebermans from California seemed to have done, except it was all a joke. They posted this photo of their newborn twins, in the hospital, with fake name cards, making it seems as though they named their babies after Raekwon and Ghostface of Wu-Tang Clan:

And as these things tend to go, that photo went viral. It made it as far as the real Raekwon's Instagram account, where the star shared it with the caption "This is live, family named their twins Raekwon & ghostface!!! #wu4thebabies"

As much Raekwon -- and the rest of the web -- wanted there to be a little Raekwon and Ghostface in the world, the twins' dad, Dan, took to Facebook to 'fess up / crush our dreams.

"I got the best father's day gift I could get yesterday,but this is a close second" Lieberman wrote on his page. "And for those wondering if we've lost our mind, this is just a joke, but we'll see how far the internet wants to carry it."

Lieberman told The Huffington Post that he always used to joke that he would name his son Ghostface, so when the twins were born, he couldn't resist putting Raekwon and Ghostface on the name cards. Still, he took the time to apologize to the Wu-Tang Clan via an email statement that he provided to HuffPost: "I want to apologize to Raekwon (the one born Corey Woods) for involving him in this little scheme."

Dad also has an apology for anyone who feels let down or duped by the viral photo.

"For those who thought they we actually named our sons after Ghost and Rae, I hope that, rather than feeling tricked, that they can share in a small bit of the joy I feel today," dad said in the statement. "It feels like they already have the love and support of thousands of people they’ll never meet, and for that I am grateful."

While these babies were given their fake Wu-Tang names at birth, the rest of the world will have to settle for this Wu-Tang Name Generator to keep the Wu-Tang pride alive.
