The parents of Al Jazeera journalist Peter Greste found out about their son's prison sentencing while cameras were rolling on Monday.
Greste was sentenced to at least seven years in prison on terrorism-related charges along with two other Al Jazeera journalists. The journalists had been detained in Egypt since December and the stunning verdict has sparked outrage worldwide.
Greste's mother Lois read the verdict aloud to her husband when she saw the news on her computer. Australia's ABC network was filming.
"That's absolutely crazy," Greste's father said, shocked.
"My god, my god," Lois Greste said, visibly distraught, before motioning for the cameras to shut off.
