11 Hottest Classic Actors That Can Never Be Replaced

Sure, the Hollywood of today can boast assets like Ryan Gosling's unbelievable abs, Angelina Jolie's pouty lips, Megan Fox' sultry eyes, and Brad Pitt's, well, everything. But there's a reason that classic films are still oh-so-cool today. That star quality that made old-school actors and actresses shine even before the days of color picture is something of a lost art. Though we may love Clooney, Roberts, and the like, we can't help but yearn for tinseltown classics and that certain something that was just inimitable and that sex appeal that could never be equalled.

We asked our Facebook fans which actors of yesteryear were unparalleled in their sex appeal. Here are some of their favorites... we think you'll agree:

Gregory Peck
WikiMedia:
He'll forever be remembered as loving father Atticus from "To Kill A Mockingbird," but the handsome actor also starred alongside the era's hottest leading ladies in films like "Roman Holiday" and "On The Beach."

Peck was just one of those actors that had it all. "The acting, the looks, the VOICE!" swooned reader Tanya Tressler.
Cary Grant

The overwhelming favorite among our readers, Grant was hands down the epitome of style and elegance. The debonair actor was reportedly once told in an interview that everyone just wanted to be like him. He supposedly cooly replied, "Even I want to be Cary Grant." Enough said.

The eternally chic style icon not only immortalized the little black dress, she made girls everywhere want to wear white gloves and pearls and be 'ladylike.' Her sophisticated sense of style is so timeless, it even inspired a 2006 marketing campaign for the Gap's skinny pants, with a scene from the actress' famous film, "Funny Face" serving as an retailer.
Elizabeth Taylor
WikiMedia:
We're not sure what's more unforgettable about Liz Taylor: her beauty or her feisty persona (or her diamonds). Her roles in films like "Cleopatra" and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" showcased her obvious talent, but people were always equally intrigued by her tumultuous personal life. She married eight times and even married Richard Burton twice.

But what we loved most about her was her inability to let life get her down. "Im a survivor," she once said. "A living example of what people can go through and survive."
Paul Newman

The epitome of all-American good looks, Newman's piercing blue eyes were simply unforgettable. He married equally beautiful actress Joanne Woodward after the two initially met on the set of a Broadway play.
Brigitte Bardot
WikiMedia:
Ooh la la! The French bombshell was one of the earliest Hollywood sex symbols, with her sultry voice and trademark platinum blonde hair. Maybe it was her effortlessly chic style, or that je ne sais quoi, but Bardot's look is still being emulated by women everywhere even today. Kate Moss' latest campaign for hair style products maker Kerastase features her channeling her inner Bardot, and the lovely Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain just cut her hair like the one-time leading lady.
Sean Connery
WikiMedia:
Sorry Daniel Craig. We don't care how good you look in a Speedo, Sean Connery will always be the ultimate James Bond in our hearts. The deep-voiced Scotsman is still sexy as ever as he nears his 85th birthday this year.
Marilyn Monroe
WikiMedia
There was just something about Marilyn. The voluptuous actress personified the term "blonde bombshell" with her legendary curves and her trademark beauty spot. Her life was short in years, but she'll stick around for countless more in film and in memory -- whether that of her breathy rendition of "Happy Birthday" for President John F. Kennedy or for her sage advice. "Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring," Monroe famously said.
Clark Gable
WikiMedia:
Not anyone could pull off a mustache like that -- or deliver one of the most memorable movie quotes of all time. The charming actor played a ladies man on-screen in hit films like in "Gone With the Wind" and "It Happened One Night," and he was equally as mesmerizing off-screen. He reportedly said his gravestone should say, "He was lucky and he knew it."
Sophia Loren
WikiMedia:
The Italian beauty is not only a sex symbol, she's also a rolemodel for healthy aging and body image. The actress is known for her curvaceous figure and body confidence, once saying, "Everything you see I owe to spaghetti."

Now nearly 80, Sophia is still stunning and has a positive approach to aging. "You have to enjoy life,” she told OK! Magazine “It’s important because you bring out positive thinking.”
Gary Cooper
WikiMedia:
With his chiseled face and sharp features, Cooper was known for romancing many of his famous co-stars of the time, including Clara Bow and Patricia Neal. We all love a cowboy.
