Author Ian Leslie's Tips For Raising Curious Kids

Ian Leslie, author of the book "Curious," is committed to the state of curiosity -- and not just for adults.

In a HuffPost Live interview on Thursday, the author told host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani that it's the parents' responsibility to foster their children's curiosity.

"I can tell you that the curiosity of children will wane," he said. "There's a way to keep your children's curiosity high, and that's [by saying] yes to [letting] them explore as long as they don't break their nose."

Tactics for fostering kids' curiosity change as they grow, Leslie added.

"But also, as they get a bit older and they start to talk to you, engage them in conversation. Answer their questions and ask questions back," he said. "There's been amazing research that shows that kids who are highly curious are the kids who've grown up in households where the parents engage them in conversations."
