There's just one thing HBO's John Oliver doesn't get about journalists.
The "Last Week Tonight" host was talking on NPR's "Fresh Air" about how he finds it hard as a comedian to be in the same room as the people he makes fun of. He said his job is to be "an outsider," so he doesn't understand how journalists can be in similar situations all the time.
"That’s what’s so concerning when you see journalists so comfortable around politicians," he said. "That’s a red flag. There should be a kind of awkward tension whenever a journalist walks into a room that politicians are in, because you should've done things that annoyed them in the past."
Perhaps the biggest example of this is the White House Correspondents' dinner, which is basically just one big party for journalists, politicians and celebrities.
"If you feel comfortable in a room like that, there’s a big problem," Oliver added.
