In her first television interview in more than 10 years, Monica Lewinsky called herself "the most humiliated woman in the world" following the release of special prosecutor Kenneth Starr's report detailing her affair with former President Bill Clinton.
"That was one of the worst days of my life," Lewinsky said in an interview with the National Geographic Channel set to air on Sunday. "I was a virgin to humiliation of that level, until that day."
A clip of the interview, part of a three-part miniseries called "The 90s: The Last Great Decade," was obtained by NBC's "TODAY."
"To have my narrative ripped from me, and turned into the Starr report, and things that were turned over or things they delved out of my computer that I thought were deleted -- I mean, it was just violation after violation," Lewinsky said. "I was the most humiliated woman in the world." The former White House intern, now 40, also addressed her "excruciating" experiences with the media, recalling times she had been called "stupid, and a slut, and a bimbo, and ditzy."
"To be in the vortex of this media maelstrom was quite alarming, and frightening, and confusing," Lewinsky said. "I think a lot, too, had to do with the fact that I was a woman."
After years of silence over her affair with Clinton, Lewinsky stepped back into the limelight last month with an essay in Vanity Fair, declaring that it was "time to burn the beret and bury the blue dress."
