Malia Obama Turns 16, Here Are The Gifts We Think She Should Get For Her Sweet Sixteen

Today might be America's birthday, but it's also Malia Obama's Sweet 16!

A gal never forgets her sixteenth birthday, and we're sure this will be a memorable one for Malia. There's no word yet on how the high schooler's plans to celebrate her big day, but chances are it will be awesome. And let's be honest, turning 16 at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on the 4th of July is pretty darn epic!

In celebration of Malia's milestone birthday, we've rounded up a list of gifts that we think every 16 year-old-girl should have or something we got for our sixteenth birthdays that we have always cherished.

Check 'em out and let us know what you'd gift Malia in the comments section below!

  • Julee Wilson, Fashion & Beauty Editor: A stunning piece of fine jewelry
    Monica Rich Kosann
"I believe turning sixteen is the perfect moment for your first piece of fine jewelry. My grandmother gave me a garnet and diamond ring for my big day and I've cherished it everyday since." Monica Rich Kosann Rectangular Gate Locket with Diamonds, $6,900
  • Dana Oliver, HuffPost Style Senior Beauty Editor: A life-changing book
"I'd gift her one of my favorite books of all time, The Bluest Eye. I think every brown girl should read this gem by Toni Morrison to reaffirm that they are beautiful with all of their unique qualities." The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, $8
  • Chanel Parks, HuffPost Style Fellow: A pair of rad headphones
    Sol Republic
"All a sixteen year old wants to do is bump their music privately." Sol Republic Tracks HD headphones, $129.99
  • Michelle Persad, HuffPost Style Fashion Editor: A pretty silk scarf
"I got a pretty silk scarf for my 16th birthday and I still have it to this day. It made me feel very grown up at the time, but it is a piece that can really grow with you and you can keep forever." Versace printed silk scarf, $130
  • Raydene Salinas, HuffPost Style Staff Photographer: A chic camera bag
"For the filmmaking lover she is, a chic camera satchel to tote her new DSLR (with video capabilities, of course -- maybe a gift from Mom and Dad?) for when it's her turn to make videos. Plus the girl loves her neutral accessories." ONA "The Palma" Crossbody Leather Satchel, $329
  • Megan Mayer, HuffPost Style Associate Editor: A life planner
    Erin Condren
"I got my license the day I turned 16, which meant I could drive myself to where I needed to be. Along with that, came actually knowing WHEN I had to be somewhere. My mom gave me a cute girly life planner and told me to keep my shit together." Erin Condren Life Planners, $50
  • Chace Beech, HuffPost Fellow: A pair of pretty designer shoes
    Neiman Marcus
"It is very clear that Malia loves flats which makes sense since she is pretty tall. So I think these Charolotte Olympia flats would the perfect gift for her." Charlotte Olympia Kitty Velvet Cat-Embroidered Flats, $495
  • Jessica Dickerson, HuffPost BlackVoices Fellow: A super duper Sweet 16 party
