Before children, my husband and I had what now seems to be an obscene amount of free time. We loved spending time at home—we'd cook, watch movies, read and spend hours hanging out with friends. It all changed when we had two girls in two short years. Being at home on weekend days began to feel challenging.
Our place was too small for the four of us and it easily became a huge mess. We wanted more help, more space and a change. At the same time, I regretted that my parents lived relatively far from us and my husband’s parents lived ten minutes away. After a lot of thought, we set the scene for a quasi-dramatic tragic-comedy by inviting my parents to live with us in a new, bigger place.
