Rachel Maddow couldn't help laughing at John McCain on Wednesday night after the senator confused two people during a hearing.
"It was an amazing moment," the MSNBC host sang on her show. She explained that there were two men whose last names both end with "owski" before the Senate committee on Homeland Security: Thomas Winkowski, head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Gil Kerlikowske, head of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
"The problem... is that John McCain cannot tell these two 'Owskis' apart and then rage ensues," Maddow described. She replayed a clip of McCain demanding that Winkowski explain why he signed a memo that prohibits visitors from bringing cell phones into detention facilities. Winkowski said he was unaware of making those instructions. "You didn't see your own memo?" McCain asked — only to be told that it was Kerlikowske who signed the memo.
"Owsi!" Maddow responded. "That had to have hurt a little."
