Whoopi Goldberg Goes On A Righteous Rant About Weed

Whoopi Goldberg sparred with fellow members of the roundtable on Monday's "The View," in a debate that ended with her offering to take a guest co-host to a marijuana farm.

The New York Times called on the federal government to repeal the ban on marijuana in an editorial over the weekend. Goldberg said she was "thrilled" by the paper's position, but guest co-hosts S.E. Cupp and Sunny Hostin were not on the same page. Hostin called pot "a gateway drug," saying, "I wonder why we think it's okay to tell our children, it's fine to disassociate -- it's fine to not be in our right frame of mind."

That set Goldberg off. After noting that tobacco and alcohol are perfectly legal, she dismissed Hostin's referencing cocaine and heroin by saying that she knew the "good parts" of using marijuana.

"Until you and I go to one of these growing places and I can help educate you, because I know where you're coming from, you don't know where I'm coming from, but I know — we'll have some more fun," she told Hostin.

In the past, Goldberg has talked about how pot has helped her cope with her glaucoma. In a column for the Denver Post earlier this year, she wrote about using her vape pen and said that "with each sip comes relief -- from pressure, pain, stress, discomfort."
