Pro Golfer Sergio Garcia Hits Spectator's Ring With Tee Shot, Knocks Diamond In The Rough

WATCH: Golfer Hits Spectator's Ring, Knocks Diamond In The Rough

Diamonds may be a girl's best friend, but judging by this incident, they're more of a "hit" with pro golfers.

Especially when you're Sergio Garcia, and your tee shot drops from the sky to hit a spectator on the finger, knocking the diamond loose from her engagement ring and into the rough.

The unlikely shot occurred on the third hole at the Bridgestone Invitational Sunday, and despite the best efforts of a search party, the diamond proved difficult to find.

While Garcia wasn't happy about the mishit, PGA announcers were more than happy to crack a couple jokes at his expense.

"This could be the most expensive tee shot of all time," speculates one commentator in a video of the incident, while another adds, "They say a diamond is forever, but not today -- she lost it."

"Obviously, it didn’t feel very good,” Garcia told The Golf Channel of the incident afterward. “You never like to hit anybody, but if you hit someone and make her lose her diamond ring, it feels even worse.”

Fox Sports reports Garcia attempted to rectify the situation by offering the fan a signed ball, aiding in the search effort, and even asking for her contact information in case no one could find the loose rock, in which case he'd buy her a new one.

Fortunately for all parties involved, someone found the diamond in the rough about 20 minutes later.
