Girls Trapped In Filthy Home For 3 Years While Couple Played World Of Warcraft

A couple in Fullerton, California, who kept two girls locked inside a mobile home for three years was convicted on multiple charges Tuesday.

Petra Huffmire and Lester Huffmire, both 41, pleaded guilty to child abuse, false imprisonment, and contributing to delinquency of a minor, according to a news release from the Orange County District Attorney’s office.

For three years, the couple played World of Warcraft for hours on end each day while two underage female relatives lived in filthy conditions. The girls, who the Huffmires did not allow to leave the home, were ages 5 and 10 when they were found by authorities in May 2013.

The home’s interior was covered in mold, cobwebs, feces and trash, and officials found a pile of used condoms underneath a teddy bear.

The two children were suffering from malnutrition and had matted hair, dirt-encrusted feet and teeth damaged “beyond repair,” according to the news released.

Lester Huffmire was sentenced to five years in prison, while Petra Huffmire was sentenced to three years and four months.
