Homeless Kitten Loses Leg In Mousetrap, Wins Our Adoration

There's a lot of toughness in this little cutie.

A stray kitten whose leg was amputated after she stepped on a cheese-filled mouse trap is winning hearts for her determination.

A good Samaritan spotted the crying cat with its tiny leg stuck in the trap and took her to a facility in Lewknor, England, for treatment, the local Bucks Herald reported. She was then transferred to an animal hospital in London, where vets removed the leg. But they didn't remove her spirit.

From what vets said was the brink of death, Babybell is recovering like a tiger after her surgery on Aug. 15. "She is very resilient," hospital volunteer Sally Blackman, featured in the video above, said in the Herald. "She is able to climb up on top of one of the scratching posts, and she walks down the corridor to say hello to the other cats and kittens too."

According to the BBC, the 5-week-old furball is staying with a foster caregiver for the moment and will be available for adoption at nine weeks.

"Babybell is so young that she will adjust well to life with three legs," said animal welfare assistant Lisa Kent.
