Most summer camps are a place where children are sent to stay active, make new friends, and enjoy time in nature. But one summer camp is providing a very different sort of experience for adults.
“There’s an elevator in my office building, and I realized one day that the 20 seconds it takes for the elevator to come pick me up had become unbearable,” explained Colin. “I had to reach for my phone; I couldn’t just stand there thinking thoughts anymore.”
Colin decided that he needed a digital detox, which led him to Camp Grounded.
“Switching off the phones and surrendering our digital devices, in general, was the easiest thing about the camp,” said Colin. “It’s realizing that that compulsion is wrapped up in deeper, more problematic things -- like work addiction.”
