The phenomena of same-sex couples pursuing partners that look strikingly similar to themselves is nothing new, and a topic often discussed by those navigating the queer community. Now, lesbian vlogger Arielle Scarcella is exploring this idea, and the ways that different couples who see themselves as physically similar came to be together.
In "Lesbians Explain: Sisters of Girlfriends," Scarcella asks three different lesbian couples who are similar in apperance about their relationships. She received a variety of answers, with some claiming that they came to adopt each other's grooming habits the more that they spent time together. So then what happens when those couples navigate public spaces together?
"I think it's just the heteronormative thing, I guess," one girl notes in the video. "People just assume when they see two girls together that you're either related or best friends."
