This Is How To Make The Ultimate Cookie Butter Ice Cream Sandwich

FoodBeast/HuffPost

Speculoos. Cookie butter. Trader Joe's nectar of the gods. Whatever you call it, you know the Belgian cookie spread is a cliché in a jar. It makes life worth living. It is the stuff of dreams. It can warm the coldest of hearts.

As Trader Joe's explains,

Cookie Butter is, in the most simplistic terms, spreadable Speculoos cookies. Speculoos cookies are classic Belgian cookies with great crunch, and a slightly caramelized, almost-but-not-quite-gingerbread flavor. After the cookies are baked to a fabulous finish, they're crushed and mixed with vegetable oils and turned into a spread. It resembles peanut butter in color and spreadability.

The taste of this perfect cookie-based spread is so beloved that Trader Joe's infused it into other products. Naturally, we raided the grocery store shelves for all the cookie butter items we could find and turned up with a bounty worthy of a cookie butter treasure chest. Search the store high and low and here's what you'll find:

Trader Joe's could have been a bit more subtle -- these ingredients are unmistakably suited to craft the world's most exemplary ice cream sandwich. When paired with another, there's a scientific brilliance to each cookie butter product: The cool ice cream perfectly complements the spread that could otherwise make you parched. The texture of the cookie is flaky enough to support the density of the chocolate bar.

Below, find step-by-step instructions for producing a cookie butter ice cream sandwich so good, it'll inspire you to quit your job and open a small, artisanal cookie butter ice cream sandwich street cart.

Place two Speculoos cookies on a plate.

Face the cookies design-side down. Some of the cookies may be cracked in the package, but this matters not. You can use the broken pieces later, to sop up the remaining ice cream.

Spread each cookie with a knife-full of cookie butter.

Be sure not to apply too much pressure. These cookies are sensitive!

Break off two sections from the chocolate bar and secure on either side of one cookie.

This chocolate placement is strategic: The two squares will secure the ice cream introduced in the following step. It'd be an awful shame for your cookie butter ice cream to slip out of the sandwich.

Spoon a scoop of ice cream between the chocolate barricades.

Carefully sandwich the two cookies together.
