Kirsten Gillibrand: Condoleezza Rice Would Be An 'Extraordinary' NFL Commissioner

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand says Condoleezza Rice would be an "extraordinary choice" for NFL commissioner if the controversy surrounding Ray Rice proves to be the downfall of current commissioner Roger Goodell.

During an interview with HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani about her new book Off The Sidelines, Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) offered her support for Rice as a potential replacement for Goodell, an idea that's gotten traction among commentators like The Washington Post's Jonathan Capehart.

"She's a role model and she's smart. She loves the sport. She performed extremely well as secretary of state," Gillibrand said of Rice. "She's a very smart, qualified woman who probably could make a huge difference in the NFL."
