What started out as a first date ended as a date with death for a 53-year-old man, according to Washington state authorities.
Leon Shaw, of Gig Harbor, was killed Saturday night, when his 47-year-old date allegedly ran him over with his truck at a Lakebay residence, KATU.com reports.
According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office, the woman, who has not been identified, crashed Shaw's truck after running him over. She was extricated from the wreckage and remained hospitalized Tuesday with critical injuries.
Sheriff's office spokesman Ed Troyer told KOMO-TV that the couple, who had both been drinking, were visiting a friend of Shaw's, who is also a tattoo artist. The woman asked the friend to tattoo her chest and for reasons that are not yet clear, an argument ensued.
The two allegedly struck each other and the woman, who was apparently wearing only a shirt, walked out of the residence and got behind the wheel of Shaw's truck. When Shaw came out of the residence after her, the woman allegedly started the vehicle and ran Shaw over before crashing it down an embankment, police said.
Troyer did not return calls for comment from HuffPost on Tuesday. He told KOMO-TV that investigators do not yet know if Shaw's death was intentional or accidental. The woman has not been questioned yet and no charges have been filed.
