Shaun White's Poor Performance In Sochi Was The 'Best And Worst Thing That Happened To Me'

Shaun White has spent countless breaths talking about the failure that was his Sochi Olympics, in which he finished fourth — outside of the medals — in the halfpipe, a major disappointment for the man considered the best snowboarder in the world. But he's OK now.

Coming into the Olympic games in February, White had won two straight gold medals in the halfpipe. His final run in Sochi consisted mostly of slips and falls, which gnawed at White for a time.

White stopped by HuffPost Live to chat about his collection of Oakley sunglasses, snowboarding and what he does in the offseason. White said the failure in Sochi has been a blessing in disguise, and he does not blame the course conditions for his finish.

"I don't want to talk too much trash on it because we're all in the same boat. The course was not up to standard, but it was not up to standard for everyone. It was an even playing field," White told host Josh Zepps. "It was the best and worst thing to happen to me. I kind of had the worst thing you could think of happen and I'm like, 'Wow, I'm still here. I'm fine. It's not the end of the world.' I'm even more excited to go back and compete than I was before the Olympics. I'm really pumped up about it."
