The Joys And Challenges Of Adopting A Child, After Raising Five Of Your Own

After raising five children of their own, Kay and Curtis Webster made the decision to adopt more.

The Websters joined HuffPost Live host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani to discuss all the things they considered before adopting children later in life.

“Part of the concern is making sure that the new child will fit in, that we have the resources, particularly as to time and energy, to help deal with the new child,” Kay said. “We had five children … so part of what we considered was the ability to blend those children and how adding another would help enrich that environment, rather than simply taking away from the other kids.”

Asked about the differences between being a parent in his twenties and being a parent in his fifties, Curtis said, “You learn how to roll with the punches.”
