Bill Murray Discusses Working As A Caddie Long Before 'Caddyshack'

Imagine trying to keep a straight face while a young Bill Murray followed you around a golf course.

Long before the actor played a loopy groundskeeper in the 1980 golf comedy "Caddyshack," he worked as a caddie.

The 64-year-old Murray, who grew up in suburban Chicago, told Ahmad Rashad on Rashad's new Back9Network show that working on the golf course was a family tradition.

"We didn't have cows to milk, so we had to go caddie," Murray said.

But before Murray actually accompanied golfers on their rounds, he said he had to work as a "shag boy," fetching balls for players practicing their drives. That paid a whole 60 cents an hour.
