A hard-partying grandma left her 1-year-old granddaughter with soda and pizza so she could go drinking, police say.
Stacey Shannon, 53, of Pittsburgh, was arrested early Thursday morning. The child's mom dropped the victim off at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, and called police when she couldn't get a hold of Shannon 17 hours later, according to WXPI.
Police responded to the grandmother's apartment, where they knocked on her door and then tried to enter through a window. They eventually called one of Shannon's other daughters to bring a key to gain access.
Inside, they found the child alone and asleep on the couch in the living room, CBS reports. At 1:15 a.m. on Thursday, Shannon allegedly walked in and admitted to police that she had been out drinking and didn't know how long she'd left the child unattended.
Crimesider reports that the Children Youth and Family services in Pennsylvania was notified and returned the child to her mother. Shannon faces a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
