This Powerful PSA Challenges The Stigma That Comes With Suicide

Meet Maximus Thor. He and his father, filmmaker Benny Wonka, have a message for those who are struggling with mental illness: You are brave. And you're never alone.

In this poignant PSA, Thor (with a voiceover by James R. Few) explains the complicated nuances that come with suicidal thoughts. While in the past people have classified the act as "stupid" or "cowardly," Wonka's video addresses the real drive behind these thoughts -- and more importantly, how we should be treating others instead: With kindness and compassion.

"Keep fighting, keep trying to find balance in life every day," Thor recites in the video. "You can be the boss of your own life. ... Control your own destiny. It might take years, but you can do it."

Take a look at the full video above for more on the stigma of suicide and mental illness.
