Following the tragic news of actress Misty Upham's death, her "August: Osage County" co-star Juliette Lewis took to Twitter, claiming that Upham was a woman with many enemies who worried about her safety.

"I am in shock and [grief]. I pray the police do a murder investigation. They're saying not 'foul play' when of course it is," Lewis wrote early Friday morning, after learning her 32-year-old friend had died. "Misty spoke out a lot against injustices within Native community. And had known enemies. Police must do an investigation."

Upham had been missing since Oct. 6, when her body was found at the bottom of a 150-foot embankment near the White River in Auburn, Washington, on Oct. 16. And though the actress' father initially told a local radio station he feared she was suicidal and not taking medication for anxiety and bipolar disorder, a family friend told The Hollywood Reporter that upon finding Upham's body on Thursday night, the family does not feel that she took her own life.

Lewis later returned to Twitter to say she was being kept awake thinking about Upham:

"I cant sleep. Too much darkness. I feel so sad about Misty. I know she has more to say. And about how she died. Misty told me about horrible violence she suffered on NA reservations She felt she [could] be murdered! [Because] she was vocal #ThisIsNOTaSUICIDE."
