Adrian Peterson Seeking Plea Deal In Child Abuse Case: REPORTS

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has reached a plea deal in a child injury case that could enable him to avoid jail time, according to ESPN. The 2012 NFL MVP was indicted by a grand jury in September on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child.

Citing an unnamed source, Michelle Steele of ESPN reported that Peterson will enter a plea Tuesday to a lesser charge than the felony child-abuse charge he is facing in the case in Texas involving a four-year-old son. Also citing an unnamed source, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk reported that Peterson will plead no contest to one count of misdemeanor reckless assault.

The deal can be accepted or rejected by Judge Kelly Case at a hearing scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in Conroe, Texas, reported the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
