Lee Terry Loses Re-Election To Democrat Brad Ashford

Rep. Lee Terry (R-Neb.) was defeated by Democratic state Sen. Brad Ashford in the state's 2nd District, according to the Associated Press.

The Omaha World-Herald reported that Terry made a concession speech Wednesday afternoon.

Terry, who represents an Omaha-based district, was considered one of the few vulnerable Republican congressional incumbents this election cycle. Democrats set their sights on his seat after he made damaging comments about keeping his salary during the federal government shutdown in 2013. Though Terry apologized, Democrats have been consistently reminding voters of his remarks on television, dragging down his approval ratings among voters.
