WATCH: Pit Bull Approaches Life's Problems Butt First

It's best to face your fears directly whenever possible. When it isn't, maybe try turning around and coming at them butt first?

That’s the hilarious strategy adopted by Queso the pit bull, who has successfully employed the technique to fight back against his owner’s open door policy, which he seems to find terrifying.

"Queso is afraid of lots of things, like the kitchen floor, the printer and doorways," writes Rhiannon Hamam, the dog’s human friend, on YouTube, "But Queso is a survivor! He deals with his fear of walking into a room … by walking in backwards."

In an email to The Huffington Post, Hamam says Queso was adopted when he was a young puppy. As such, she has no idea why he’s afraid of doorways, but assured us it’s not in any way related to trauma or abuse.

"We've had Queso since he was a little puppy," she said. "We rescued him from a shelter when he was about 9 weeks old, so we don't think anything traumatic happened to him to cause this behavior."

Hamam believes the pup is just a bit timid about the slippery transition from the hardwood floors in their hallway to the carpet in the room, especially because Queso passes through the house's front and back doors without any problem.

"Downstairs, we have a more open floor plan with no literal "doorways" to go through, so he moves around easily," she added. "But upstairs, he refuses to enter any of the rooms. He will not pass through any doorways up there. The exception is our bedroom. I think this is because we hang out enough in our bedroom that Queso doesn't want to miss out on any snuggles or playtime, so he forces himself to overcome the doorway fear."

"We don't see this as a debilitating fear or a real problem at all, we just see it as Queso being goofy, happy Queso. It's silly and funny and endearingly weird ... and, when you think about it, it's actually pretty smart and brave of him."
