Kmart on Monday unveiled its latest Joe Boxer ad for the holidays. Although it's quite different from "Jingle Bellies," the belly-pounding men's ad released in November, there's still an emphasis on bellies. Or should we say baby bumps?
Titled "Santa Baby," the new ad promotes Joe Boxer's women's pajama line at Kmart and features five pregnant women dancing to a modernized version of Eartha Kitt's 1953 Christmas tune. The spot starts off showing the dancers in silhouette from behind, so you don't realize they're pregnant for the first few seconds. Then they all turn to the side and -- BAM -- preggers!
Because the dancers needed to be visibly pregnant, all five moms-to-be were in their third trimester when they appeared in the ad, Kmart's Diane Vaccaro told USA today. The outlet goes on to note that Kmart also cast two pregnant understudies for the ad, since there was a possibility that some of the dancers could give birth before filming wrapped.
