After weeks of silence amid multiple allegations of sexual assault, Bill Cosby is speaking out to thank his defenders via Twitter.

On Wednesday, the 77-year-old comedian thanked Whoopi Goldberg and singer Jill Scott for their support:

Last month, Goldberg came to Cosby's defense on an episode of "The View," stating she was skeptical of sexual assault claims made by Barbara Bowman, questioning why she didn't go to the police at the time.

“Perhaps the police might have believed it, or the hospital,” Goldberg said. “Don’t you do a kit when you say someone has raped you?”

She added, "I hope somebody gets to the bottom of this, but I’m going to reserve my judgment because I have a lot of questions, as I said. It’s crazy, but I have a lot of questions, because I know we all have friends who have gone through this."

On Monday, Scott came to Cosby's defense on Twitter:

Adding to the many accusations of sexual assault launched against Cosby, a California woman filed a lawsuit on Tuesday, claiming Cosby molested her at the Playboy Mansion around 1974, when she was 15 years old.
