Less than two weeks since a decision was announced not to indict former Ferguson, Missouri police officer with the fatal Aug. 9 shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown, comes the legal decision in the death of Eric Garner.
On Wednesday, a grand jury voted not to indict New York City police officer Daniel Pantaleo with the July 17 chokehold death of Garner, which was ruled a homicide. And with the expectation of various protests set to begin tonight in New York City, many have already expressed their thoughts and frustration on the jury's decision. Here is a round-up of reactions from black public figures on social media:
We have a NY cop using a BANNED chokehold take down #EricGarner - ON VIDEOTAPE! - kills him, and no damn indictment? Utterly despicable.

Ruled a homicide.
Choke hold condemned by NYPD. Clearly unarmed.
Video to prove it.

Obama: "We are seeing too many instances" where people don't believe we're equal under the law. #EricGarner

Eric Garner's death should be further investigated by federal authorities (3/4)

"Permission" 2 violate the rights of 1 group, is merely a gateway 2 permitting the violation of the rights of any group #EricGarner

Not surprised by Eric Garner news but I am disgusted at a world that says cops can kill a man on tape using illegal chokehold&still go home

Too many police officers seem to look for trouble. But where are they when you need them?

If an illegal choke hold captured on video failed to lead to an indictment we can look fwd 2 more atrocities.

Fact that the choke-hold was "unlawful" means something if the society decides it does.

Wake up, there's also no more conspiracy.
The plan in motion is right there on video for all eyes to see.

So much for body cameras #EricGarner

So we can see someone choked to death on video with no consequences?!

So for the people who tried to explain their way out of the Mike Brown situation, explain Eric Garner. Still not about race?

And tonight we march. Peacefully, but we definitely march. #EricGarner

Though a coroner ruled that Eric Garner's death was a homicide, this lethal chokehold will not result in a trial. http://t.co/TB7x07h7Qu
