How Much Do You Really Know About Poinsettias?

So maybe they aren't as ubiquitous as the Christmas tree or have a song inspired by their name, but poinsettias are known the world over as a holiday season staple. If you think about it though, their fleeting appearance on front porches and garden center shelves makes them a rather mysterious plant. How much do we really know about poinsettias and their origins, after all?

For starters, pointsettias aren't highly poisonous (contrary to popular belief), and the part that we love the most about the plant -- its red leaves -- aren't actually considered flowers at all (the yellow center is).
