These Are Actually The Coolest Photos Of New York We've Ever Seen

"Imagine leaning out of an open door of a helicopter 7,500 feet over New York City on a very dark and chilly night... And seeing this." That's how Vincent Laforet describes what it was like taking these truly amazing aerial shots of New York City.

Laforet, a "filmmaker, photographer, producer, teacher and advisor," was on a photo assignment for Men's Health magazine when he took these illuminated photos from inside of a helicopter. "I proposed shooting the city from an unusually high altitude so that we could capture the lines that are formed by the streets of New York at night," he writes. "It was an article about psychology and I've always thought that from a high altitude the streets looked like brain 'synapses' - at least to me."

It's safe to say that we've never seen our beloved NYC like this, and it turns out Laforet hadn't either -- the helicopter flew so high that if they had flown any higher, they would have needed oxygen masks.
