Stews are one of those dishes that will never stir up excitement. There's nothing glamorous about them; no way to make them feel fancy. But despite stew's failure to shine, we still crave a bowl.

There's nothing more comforting on a cold, winter day than a big, deep, steamy bowl of hearty stew. It's basically the food equivalent of sitting near a roaring fire while tucked under a cozy blanket wearing wool socks.

Everyone always thinks beef when stew comes up, and those recipes are great, but there are many more stew recipes to turn to during these long winter months.
