Nearly one-third of the food produced globally is wasted, but Anna Lappé, author of Diet for a Hot Planet, says something can be done to ensure that what is produced both nourishes people and reduces greenhouse gases.
As part of HuffPost Live's continued coverage of the 2015 World Economic Forum, Lappé was optimistic about some solutions she discussed with host Nancy Redd, which included finding alternatives to chemicals and reducing the amount of synthetic fertilizers used.
"For me, the good news story here is we have a lot of these answers," Lappé said. "It's about really making sure that more farmers have these tools and that we have the political will to push for policies that support this kind of agriculture."
