14 Cats Dead In Fire

ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) -- Firefighters say a fire in a central Pennsylvania home killed 14 cats and displaced three people.

The Altoona Mirror reports ( http://bit.ly/15DCOz8 ) the fire started Thursday in the cats' bedding in a carport at the Altoona home. Firefighters say one of the cats may have knocked over a lightbulb that was put there to keep them warm.

The fire broke out around 4:45 p.m. and quickly spread through the home.

A man inside was able to get out. No one else was home. Three of the family's 17 cats survived.

Neighbors say they saw flames shooting 20 feet from the roof. Firefighters say the home is a total loss.
