This One Issue Could Help Pull The Country Together, According To Congressman Tim Ryan

While there seems to be little room for bipartisan issues in the current congressional climate, Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) believes that transforming the United States food subsidy system is the one topic that could unite the nation's leaders. The congressman joined HuffPost Live host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani to discuss how food is a social justice, economic and educational issue for our country.

"If we explain to the taxpayer that we subsidize these crops that end up in this highly-processed food that makes us sick, and then we subsidize the healthcare to take care of all the sick people because they're eating all this highly-processed food that's very affordable because it's subsidized, I think the taxpayers -- Democrat, Republican, fiscal-conservative and someone who wants to talk more about social justice -- are going to be in agreement that the system is insane," Ryan said. "If there is an issue that can pull the country together, I think it's this one."
