The last time we saw Lindsay Weir -- in the series finale of the cancelled-too-soon gem "Freaks and Geeks" -- she was ditching an academic summit in favor of spending the summer following the Grateful Dead. But what would Lindsay be doing all these years later? Actress Linda Cardellini ventured a guess during a chat with HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri on Thursday.
It's been 15 years since the show went off the air in 2000 and, since the series was set in 1980, 15 years later for the students of William McKinley High School would be 1995. Cardellini guessed that Lindsay might be embracing the grungy flannel look of the mid-'90s while following in the footsteps of another "Freaks" character.
"She might be a professor. She might have taken after Mr. Rosso," Cardellini said. "Maybe she's a guidance counselor at some kind of all-women's college or something."
The show's creator Paul Feig had a different idea when he talked with Vanity Fair in 2012 about the characters' futures. "I just knew she’d probably end up at some point in her twenties in Greenwich Village as a performance artist, and after that she’d probably become a lawyer -- a human-rights lawyer," Feig said.
Feig also told Vanity Fair that when he and Judd Apatow brainstormed the second season that never happened, they planned that "something bad" would happen to Lindsey during her journey with the Grateful Dead. Cardellini shared with HuffPost Live what that might have been.
"We joked around that she got pregnant at the Dead concert," she said.
