David Beckham Went On His Son Brooklyn's First Date With Him

David Beckham isn't quite as cool as we thought he was.

While chatting with James Corden on "The Late Late Show," Beckham revealed that he chaperoned his son Brooklyn's first date, when his son was 14 years old.

"It was Valentine’s Day, so he said, ‘I’d love to take this girl to dinner,’" the soccer star explained. Beckham himself was all for it, but when he ran it by his wife Victoria, who was out of town, she wasn't quite as thrilled.

"So she said, 'Make sure you take him, and make sure you sit in the restaurant.' … So we took him to a small sushi restaurant and he sat at the sushi bar and I sat about five tables back."

"By the way," he added, "my daughter is four years old. When she gets to that age, I will be closer than that.”

That's not where the embarrassment ends for Brooklyn, though. In an interview with The Telegraph, Beckham told a cringe-worthy (and adorable) story about how he handled the moment when Brooklyn asked to be dropped off around the corner from his school.

“He said ‘Can you drop me around the corner?’ So I said ‘Okay,’ I wasn’t happy about it, because I’d got up at seven in the morning to take him to school," Beckham explained. "So I dropped him around the corner, as he walking into his school I opened the window and shouted ‘I love you!’”

And you thought your dad was embarrassing.
