Chelsea Bruck Missing: New Clues, False Tips Have Muddled Search Since Halloween Party

False Tips Muddle Search For Woman Missing Since Halloween Party

Police believe they have a new clue in the disappearance of 22-year-old Chelsea Bruck, a Michigan woman who was last seen at a Halloween party about five months ago.

Authorities were searching a field in southeastern Michigan on Sunday for the woman, who was dressed as the comic book villain Poison Ivy when she vanished after a party in Frenchtown Township on Oct. 26, according to WDIV. The costume included a leaf-covered top and dark purple wig. Police reportedly found a piece of that costume Sunday evening in Flat Rock.

Few other details were released about the renewed search, but the discovery is a small victory in a case that has seen more than 600 tips, none of which led to evidence. Fabricated stories have also plagued the search, and two people were charged with lying to investigators about the case.

"I think it’s pretty sad," Bruck's mom, Leannda, told Monroe News in January. "I suppose they’re looking for attention. I just don’t understand it."

Police say there's still no evidence that Bruck was hurt or killed, according to the Detroit Free Press. Her disappearance has led to searches in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.
