The beauty industry, and beauty buffs alike, are mourning the loss of world-renowned dermatologist Fredric Brandt.
WWD reports that Brandt was found dead in his home in Coral Gables, Florida on Sunday. He was 65 years old.
Brandt's publicist, Jacquie Trachtenberg, told Page Six that the doctor "was suffering from an illness," though specifics remain unclear. On Monday, the Miami police confirmed that cause of death was suicide. The Huffington Post reached out to Trachtenberg for further comment and received a statement that reads, in part:
In all ways, Dr. Brandt was a tremendous presence in the beauty industry, a man who was incomparably skilled as a doctor but equally caring and generous as a human being. He loved singing show tunes and creating raps while he worked, keeping his patients happy and laughing while they were being injected with needles. It was impossible to walk out of his office without a smile on your face, feeling rejuvenated inside and out.
Brandt was one of the most famous dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons to the stars, counting celebrities including Kelly Ripa, Madonna and Stephanie Seymour as clients and friends. In addition, the New Jersey native was at the helm of his eponymous luxury skincare line.
Condolences have been pouring in via social media since the sad news broke:
