“The security industry is sort of like the Band-Aid industry,” Jeff Moss, a former hacker who advises the Department of Homeland Security, said in an unnerving Wall Street Journal story on Monday. “We apply better, faster, bigger Band Aids….But we’re not really fixing the patient.”

The sickly, in this case, are some of the biggest corporations with some of the most sensitive information in the world.

Over the past two years, massive data breaches have exposed just how vulnerable companies including Sony, JPMorgan Chase, Target and Anthem Inc. are to hackers.
