This Gay Teen Couple Couldn't Have Asked For A More Perfect Prom Night

Prom night is a memorable rite-of-passage for many high school students across the country. The experience was especially monumental for two gay West Virginia teen athletes, as stunning photos from the event attest.

Mussleman High School senior Michael Martin and boyfriend Logan Westrope, who attends Hedgesville High School, were among the many couples who partied at Mussleman's senior prom on April 25 at The Heritage Hall in Inwood, West Virginia, Outsports reports.

A four-year starter on his school's soccer team, Martin has been dating Westrope, a tennis player, for four months. Both guys are 18.

Westrope confessed to a little trepidation when he and Martin arrived at the prom, telling Outsports's Jim Buzinski, "At first we were both a little hesitant to hold hands, not knowing how the rest of the student body would react. But after a short while, we were always next to each other and danced together the whole night."

Still, Westrope said he and his boyfriend only received compliments as they grooved to tunes by Sam Smith, Wiz Khalifa and John Legend.

"Once we left the prom, I remember Michael saying to me in the car, 'Logan, this is our last prom and I'm so glad I got to spend it with you,'" he said. "I couldn't have asked for a more perfect night."

Martin, who shared his coming out story with Outsports in December, will attend Pennsylvania's Wilson College in the fall, where he'll major in Environmental Sustainability and continue to play soccer. Logan will study meteorology at Penn State University.
