Lincoln Chafee To Announce Presidential Bid June 3

WASHINGTON, May 29 (Reuters) - Former Rhode Island Governor Lincoln Chafee will announce on June 3 his intention to run for the 2016 Democratic nomination for president, Politico reported on Friday, citing an unnamed source with knowledge of his plans.

Chafee, who served in the U.S. Senate as a Republican and later became a Democrat in 2013, is scheduled to speak that day at George Mason University. He will announce his 2016 plans during the speech, according to Politico. (Reporting by Emily Stephenson; Editing by Sandra Maler)
