Eating out in the Bay Area with Michael Bauer, food critic of the SF Chronicle, is not that different from stepping out with a famous politician, rock star, or actor... it involves the same level of fanfare, pinky-ring-kissing, and an obscene amount of food delivered.
A dinner date with Michael Bauer and his equally opinionated partner Michael Murphy is one of the greatest covert operations imaginable that include reservations booked under fictitious names through Opentable.com at the most un-prime time -- usually around 5:45 pm, when staff are at their most unsuspecting!
And the rest... I am sworn to secrecy.
But I will say, nights out with these two are some of my favorites.
