Marines Fight California Wildfires as Thousands Are Displaced From Blaze

A brush fire which started aboard Naval Weapons Station Fallbrook at approximately 9:45 a.m. yesterday has required local military personnel and families to be evacuated. The Tomahawk Fire spread throughout the day in the northeast section of Camp Pendleton burning more than 6,000 acres forcing evacuations of housing areas and various schools both on and off base.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, local Marines have partnered with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection to conduct aerial firefighting against several wildfires ablaze in San Diego County.
