Wearable technology may be the big trend here at the international CES but smart, connected home appliances is coming in a close second.

Samsung showed off a line of smart kitchen appliances: A refrigerator, washing machine, even an oven capable of cooking food at two different temperatures.

LG announced its home chat smart platform. LG's David VanderWall says all you have to do is text your appliance -- yes, you can text the refrigerator from the store to see you if you need milk -- and it will text you back.

He told MommyTech TV it will work the same with a washing machine, a refrigerator, even a robotic vacuum. That way, on your way home from work you can text your oven and ask it to start cooking dinner, or start a load of wash so your kid's soccer uniform is clean for practice.

Check out the video to hear more from LG on their vision for the connected home.
