A Different Drummer

If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. -- Henry David Thoreau

Ode to the ICD

I hear a different drummer
Sometimes fast and strong
My rhythm differs slightly
When my heart plays that song

It can be rock and roll
Or sometimes just smooth jazz
Unique, it's just for me
Normal? Almost, as good as...

I realize the difference
And accept it with strength and grace
I wish that it were better...
But God put me in this place

So don't feel sorry for me
Because I'm slightly offbeat
I'm happy to be singing
... so shock me back onto my feet.
